The game was nip-and-tuck for the first three minutes of the contest, however, Chavies began to move ahead as the period wore on. At the horn, the Cardinals held a 15-7 lead.
Little changed in the second period, as the Mustangs found it difficult to get a good look at the basket. On the other side of the floor, the Cardinals were getting multiple offensive rebounds that led to points. Going into the locker room, Chavies held a 27-14 advantage.
The game continued as usual in the third period, with the lead hovering around the 15-point margin. R. W. Combs made a late rally that netted them the advantage in the period, but not the game. Chavies went into the final six minutes with a solid 37-12 lead.
The Mustangs continued to hang around early in the fourth quarter. But, as the end drew near, the Cardinals went for the knockout punch. Chavies picked up several easy baskets courtesy of the defense, and went on to win the game by the final count of 51-31.
