The first semifinal game of the girls' 14th region tournament featured the top two teams in the area, the Breathitt County Lady Bobcats and the Letcher Central Lady Cougars. Breathitt County maintained a small lead throughout the game, and had to hold off a serious comeback bid late to pull off the win.

Breathitt County cruised along in the first quarter, picking up an extra basket here and there. At the end of the period, the Lady Bobcats held a 14-6 lead.

Letcher Central continued to struggle from the field in the second period, but luckily Breathitt County went cold as well. Going into the break, the Lady Bobcats held the 23-13 advantage.

Letcher Central came out of the locker room looking for a comeback, but as soon as they got the margin close, Breathitt County caught fire. The Lady Bobcats held a sizable lead (43-27) going into the fourth quarter.

Just when it looked as if the game was over, the Lady Cougars began to hit the “3.” With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Letcher Central was within five. Breathitt County made good on their free throws down the stretch, and went on to win the game by the final score of 61-54.
