HAZARD – A Perry County man who was one of four accused of the kidnapping and rape of a male juvenile in Hazard has pled guilty to amended charges. Twenty-two-year-old Philip Riddle was the second to enter a guilty plea this month.

Riddle made an appearance in Perry Circuit Court on March 25, facing several charges including kidnapping, rape, and sexual abuse. Riddle, along with Ora Walker, Brett Combs, and Jared Fields, were indicted in April 2009 on charges that they held the juvenile at knifepoint and sexually abused him on more than one occasion.

The case against Jared Fields went to trial in November, and following a guilty verdict he was sentenced to 30 years in prison. A plea bargain was announced in court earlier this month for Brett Combs, who is set to be sentenced to 15 years in prison on April 19. Ora Walker is still awaiting trial.

During his appearance in court, Riddle pled to several amended charges and will be expected to testify in the trial against Walker. Riddle pled guilty to two amended counts of facilitation to kidnapping for five years to serve, three counts of an amended charge of second-degree sodomy for 10 years to serve on each count, two counts of an amended charge of second-degree rape for 10 years to serve on each count, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse for five years to serve on each count, and eight counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor for 10 years to serve on each count. Each sentence is to be served concurrently, or at the same time, for a total of 10 years to serve. Riddle will additionally be required to register as a sex offender and undergo a sex offender treatment program.

Riddle is set to appear again in court for formal sentencing on April 29.
