He was the son of Rachel Harvey Hurt and the late Robert Hurt, and is also survived by his sons, Christopher Michael Hurt and Ryan Odell Hurt; sisters Linda Hurt and Judy Elam; brother Ronnie Hurt and grandchild Chloe Hurt.
Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Monday, August 23. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 245 with Rev. A.D. Pete McGee officiating. Interment was at Whitaker Cemetery located at Hallie.
