Harold “Curly” Dean Stevens, 73, of Argos, In., died on Friday, April 20 at his home following a sudden illness.

He was born on October 2, 1938 in Red Wine, Ky. to Sanford and Elizabeth (Hill) Stevens. He was self employed, and had lived in the Argos community since 1955.

Mr. Stevens enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the love of his life. He was an avid golfer and loved riding his bicycle. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews, and he and his wife Verna loved Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Verna, whom he married on December 9, 1960 in Rochester, In.; son Douglas D. Stevens and wife Christine of Noblesville, In.; grandchildren Cory Neal, Zachary Stevens and Amanda Stevens; sisters Ruby Brock of Argos, Juanita Duff and husband Dave of Argos, Bonnie Susits and husband John of Argos; brothers Hobert Stevens and wife Claudett of Lakeville, In., William Stevens and wife Linda of Punta Gorda, Fl., and Sherman Stevens and wife Linda of Bourbon, In., along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Deana Lou Stevens; brothers Donald and Jimmy Stevens; sister Edna Roberts; and sister-in-law Janice McClain.

Arrangements were handled by Earl-Grossman Funeral Home of Argo, where the visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ in Argos with Rev. Lloyd Howard officiating.
