Archie Holbrook, Jr., 71, died Tuesday, June 12 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born January 1, 1941 in Perry County, the son of the late Arch Holbrook and the late Eliza Couch Holbrook. He was a life-long resident of Perry County, a member of the Church of God in Christ Jesus, and a coal miner by occupation. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, America Holbrook of Slemp; son Alonzo Earl Holbrook and wife Lisa of New Tazewell, Tn.; daughter Dr. Sandra H. Browning and husband Dr. Scott Browning of Vicco; brother Charlie Holbrook and wife Wilma of Neon, Ky.; special sister Nola Ison of Slemp; special brother-in-law Alonzo Shepherd of Cornettsville; special nephew Alonzo Jason Shepherd of Cornettsville; grandchildren Caitlyn, Connor, Cassandra, Nicholas Holbrook and Andrew Browning, along with a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is also mourned by his brothers and sisters in the Church of God in Christ Jesus.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at the Church of God in Christ Jesus at Beatty Branch in Cutshin, Ky. with Larry Lewis and Warnie Baker officiating. The interment will follow in the Stoney Fork Cemetery located at Delphia.
Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard was in charge of arrangements.
