Raymond Hamblin, age 76, husband of Patricia (Combs) Hamblin, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 5 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.
He was born in Krypton on November 23, 1935, a son of the late Cecil and Edna (Colwell) Hamblin. He was a retired school teacher for both the Owsley and Perry County School Districts, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Warrens Chapel United Methodist Church in Vincent, Ky., an avid golfer, sportsman and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; sons; Kevin (Valerie) Hamblin of Gays Creek, and Greg Hamblin of Fort Myers, Fl.; brother Kenneth (Stella) Hamblin of Chavies; sisters Irene (George) Stewart of Crescent Springs, Ky., Jeannie C. Riley of Naples, Fl., Carolyn (Amos (Recently Deceased)) Ison of Bonnyman, and Norma Hamblin of Hazard; grandson Ethan Hamblin of Gays Creek; brothers and sisters in law Fred (Linda) Combs of Jackson, Judy (David) Gaunce of Lexington, Karen (Jim) Deaton of Clayhole, and Minnie Sue Combs of California, along with many other loving family members and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary McIntosh; and brothers Bert, Earl and James Hamblin.
Military Rites by the Jack Welch Chapter 165 Disabled American Veterans and funeral services were be held at the Warrens Chapel United Methodist Church in Vincent, Ky. on Sunday, July 8 with Reverend J. Jamison Brunk officiating. He was laid to rest in the Warrens Chapel Cemetery located in the Vincent Community of Owsley County.
Pallbearers were Kevin Hamblin, Greg Hamblin, Kenneth Hamblin, Fred Combs, David Gaunce, Jim Deaton, Jeff Riley, Ronnie Wooten, and Bobby Smith.
The family requests that donations be made to Warrens Chapel United Methodist Church or Hospice Care Plus.
Booneville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
