Johnny “Calvin” Barger, 47, passed away on Friday, July 13 at his home in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Buckhorn native was born on July 15, 1964 and was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ida McIntosh Barger, along with three brothers: Danny, Paul and Bobby Barger.
Calvin was a construction worker for Williams Properties and attended Bowling Green Praise and Worship Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Smith Baskins and husband Claudell of Charleston, S.C.; sisters Pat Collins, Helen Abner, and Mae Smith and husband Archie, all of Buckhorn, Glenda Barger of Bowling Green and Linda Lawrence and husband Billy of Brownsville, Ky.; brothers Freddie Barger and wife Trish of Bowling Green, and Michael Barger of Buckhorn; along with five step-sons, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday at noon until 4 p.m. at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel with the funeral at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. A second visitation will begin on Monday, July 16 at 1 p.m. at the Log Cathedral of Buckhorn, with a graveside service at 4:30 p.m. at Smith-Neace Cemetery in Breathitt County.
