Joyce Ann Sumner, 77, of Happy, died Tuesday, July 17 at the Hazard ARH medical center.

She was a retired business owner of Nunns Drycleaners and Joyce Ceramics, and the daughter of the late Kenneth Daniels and the late Cynthia Combs Daniels. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James W. Daniels, and sisters Peggy Mayhew and Joan Mullins.

She is survived by her husband, James Wayne Sumner; daughter Cynthia Cosgrave; sons Michael Wayne Sumner and wife Cretia, Marcus Warren Sumner and wife Kasandra, and Matthew Brian Sumner; sisters Mary Mullins and Judy Shell; brother Bill Daniels, along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 19. Services will be at Vicco Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 20 with Ronald Davidson officiating. Interment will be at Daniels Family Cemetery in Millseed.
