Dewey Combs, 83, of Hazard, died Saturday, Feb. 2 at the hospice care center in Hazard.

He was a retired furniture merchant and son of the late Woodson and Rebecca Combs. He was also preceded in death by two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Combs; daughters Judy Haddock and husband Preston of Hazard, and Tenna Johnson and husband John of Hazard; son Van Combs and wife Tammy of Busy; sisters Grace Couch of Hazard and Mary Lois Grigsby of Dayton, Ohio; brother Doris Combs of Dayton; along with five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, where the services were held on Monday, Feb. 4 with Rev. Preston Haddock and Bobby Bowling officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Hazard.
